What's new this month
| July 2006 | Took my telescope to northern France for 3 weeks
holiday Never seen dark sky's like that before, millions of stars. Such fabulous viewing conditions presented me with a problem, I couldn't sort out the constellations, finding my way around the sky was like starting all over again. Views of Jupiter where fantastic. |
| August 2006 | Joined my local astronomical club HAPS (The
Huddersfield Astronomical and Philosophical Society). I think the
Philosophical bit means you have to be patient for clear sky's. They made me welcome and I have enjoyed every meeting so far. I would recommend this club to anyone in West Yorkshire The society boosts an Observatory with a 16 inch Meade Telescope a 6 other quality telescopes
|
| September 2006 | I am taking part in the Joddrel Bank A List award.
Hoping to gain a Bronze Medal This gives one a purpose and a goal to aim for but some of the objects have to be worked for, challenging in a light polluted area. You also have to be patient , this is a new skill I'm learning |
| October 2006 | Spent 5 hours at the club observatory learning the ins and outs of getting the dome open and setting up the 16 inch Meade. NEED a hat it was freezing. |
| November 2006 | Won the
Astro-Image Competition Bought a Meade DSI colour for some serious astrophotography see Latest Developments |
| December 2006 | Hopefully dark nights will be here. |
| March 2007 | Purchased a Celestron CG5-GT goto mount What a difference |
| May 2007 | Well I have completed the Bronze award and
e-mailed off the required log fingers crossed. Got to admit the Celestron Goto mount made this alot easier for the fainter and smaller objects. |
| June 2007 | Setting up to run a beginners course in astronomy at the Huddersfield club. Who better to teach it than a beginner. |
